Cup in Brown by David Swenson
The Maker: David Swenson of St. Paul Minnesota. Ask David about his work and brace yourself- he has an encyclopedia worth of inspiration for his hand painted illustrations. The list begins with quilts and continues through rosemaling, Turkish, Moroccan, Syrian, Iranian imagery, kimono patterns, Japanese ceramic motifs, and the universal love of cubits and their representation. This was only the beginning of a really beautiful rabbit hole of inspiration.
The Work: Earthenware and porcelain pots. Each with a mystery and a magic to them. They feel amazing in the hand and amazing to the eye as you trace the flurry of decoration. So lucky to have them in the shop.
