Pigment Dispersion Painting 11 By Andy Ness
The Artist: after 17 years of creating art in New York, Andy moved home to Minnesota and currently creates work in two studios: Minneapolis' Northeast and Grand Marais' Maple Hill. He earned his undergrad in sculpture from Pratt in Brooklyn and his graduate degree from RISD where he continued to work as a professor. His most recent show was at the Contemporary Art Fair in Bologna, Italy.
The Work: Though most of his works in recent months have been large scale paintings, Andy has also produced a few delicious gems which are now showing in UPSTATE. He uses aspects of collage, hand mixed acrylic pigment dispersions and pumice sand and inks to create these little mysteries. All materials are light-fast. Enjoy.
This piece is a 22 x 24 painting on canvas.
